Located between the banks of the Elbe River, Dresden is known as the Elbflorenz ( Florence of the Elbe) due to its Baroque-style architecture and world renowned museums and art collections. With continuous economic growth, rising sales figures, expansion of established enterprises, and top placement in economic rankings, Dresden has evolved into a dynamic city of business and science over the past few years.

The city’s economic growth and development is due in part to its competence in microelectronics, communication and information technology, and biotechnology, among others. In addition, exceptional research institutions and motivated, highly qualified employees add to the competence of its major industries.

Dresden has twelve twin cities with which it has been able to maintain exchanges in various fields such as: education, environment, and culture. School and youth encounters have also been possible as a result of these encounters.
